Locally Grown Organic Produce
Banc Organics is a not-for-profit community supported food scheme which grows Organic* vegetables and fruit in Bancffosfelen and distributes them in the Gwendraeth valleys. Our members get a weekly Organic fruit and veg bag delivered to a pick up point near their home. Much of our work is done by volunteers, and we encourage our members to get involved in growing their food, as well as getting to know each other.
The Peoples Assembly Against Austerity.
This is a call to all those millions of people in Britain who face an impoverished and uncertain year as their wages, jobs, conditions and welfare provision come under renewed attack by the government. With some 80% of austerity measures still to come, and with the government lengthening the time they expect cuts to last, we are calling a People’s Assembly Against Austerity to bring together campaigns against cuts and privatisation with trade unionists in a movement for social justice. We aim to develop a strategy for resistance to mobilise millions of people against the Con Dem government.
Our NHS, fight for it!
Privatisation is putting our NHS in England at grave risk. In three years this government's given us cuts, queues and chaos. With £20 billion of new NHS contracts soon up for grabs big business is queuing up to cash in on our ill health, all thanks to the government's Health and Social Care Act. Our money should be spent on improving services and training staff, not on shareholders and managing contracts.
The Parrot Music Bar, Carmarthen
The Parrot music bar had to close its doors after the owners couldn't continue to run it as a business.
The Parrot gave Carmarthen a chance to see amazing live music - talented new local bands and world famous music legends. It grew a beautiful community of fans from across the country.
We want to make sure The Parrot is kept as a place for live music. We want to run it for the community, not for profit. We want to take this chance to make it bigger and better than it ever was before. The West Wales Music Collective has pledged to initially give its labour freely to support the relaunching of the Parrot.
Transition Tywi Transnewydd
Transition Tywi Transnewydd is a grassroot community project that seeks to build resilience in response to peak oil, climate destruction, and economic instability. Local projects are usually based on the model's initial '12 ingredients' and later 'revised ingredients'.
